Calhoun County Court at Law Judge
Candidates for this position should familiarize themselves with the legal duties and jurisdictional limits of statutory county courts under Chapter 25 of the Texas Government Code . This includes the minimum qualifications found in Tex. Gov’t Code sec. 25.0014:
GOVERNMENT CODE CHAPTER 25. STATUTORY COUNTY COURTS
The judge of a statutory county court must:
(1) be at least 25 years of age;
(2) be a United States citizen and have resided in the county for at least two years before election or appointment; and
(3) be a licensed attorney in this state who has practiced law or served as a judge of a court in this state, or both combined, for the four years preceding election or appointment, unless otherwise provided for by law.
